Birthdayboy, close your eyes! April 19, 2009
For Malia’s birthday boy, who is turning 7 tomorrow but is having a big party this afternoon, I made the following item (he requested pirate-stuff):

It’s a singlet from H&M. I copied a real pirateflag (Emmanuel Wynne’s) and painted it on a piece of linen. I outlined the paint with stitches with fosforised sewingthread, can you imagine how awesome that shirt will be if it’s suddenly getting dark?
Here’s a close-up.

I hope he likes it!
Dance with Somebody April 15, 2009
Before being accused for not blogging often enough (like Malia was, haha) I just want to tell you I am still alive and crafting. But mainly designing stuff I cannot show you yet. But I will soon. Promise!
In the meantime, here’s a video. It’s not related to crafting, not at all.
It’s Mando Diao. Can’t get the song out of my head.
February 24, 2009
Finally finished these stockings. They took me AGES. I was suffering the SSS. Started and finished the first sock in November 08, started and finished the second sock in February. Just in time for spring!
Didn’t follow the whole pattern, I did shortrowheels. I know, I am lazy
The yarn is Knitpicks bare sockyarn. Dyed with logwood and used alum as a mordant. I think the color is very pretty.

How a heart saved my mitten. February 16, 2009
on Valentinesday I discovered a hole in my Melina Mitten!
I already wasn’t very pleased the way the yarn behaved (pilling, out of shape,) but this was the limit! (maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh on the yarn. I wear the mittens every single day)
Luckily I had some Cascade to save my hands from getting cold. With a heart ofcourse.
It was Valentinesday after all.
(I notice the heart starts to felt already. Well as I said I do wear these mittens A LOT, it’s a great pattern by Malia and you can purchase it at Penelope Craft)

December 10, 2008
Ooooh, I already made one resolution for the new upcoming year. Blog more regularly.
Well, I’ve been busy lately…
First:
My friend Malia and I have opened up a new webshop named Penelope Craft. We’re really excited about it.
We already carry 3 different kinds of yarn: GGH Merino, Cascade 220 Wool and not to forget Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn. We also have KnitPicks needles, lovely handprinted giftcards etc. etc. More product will be added in the near future!

Go and check it out….
But don’t go right away, because I also want to show you this:
Next Thursday, 20.00u in De Nieuwe Anita, Katies Cozy Craft Corner. Happily hosted by the Penelope Craft gals, also known as Malia and me. Come and join us for some cool crafts and craftini’s (which are DIY cocktails) and cupcakes!

Where’s my knittingmojo!? September 3, 2008
A few days ago I lost my knittingmojo and I wanted it back, so I decided to cast on this no-brainer.
The pattern is superfun and supereasy. I casted on on sunday-evening, finished yesterday during my knittingnight. I love it! And it seems like autumn has begun already in Amsterdam, so I might need it soon.
The yarn is handspun and handdyed 100% merino by my friend Zwaalie. I love the way the colors turn into stripes of green. I think I have my mojo back. Sort of…
